· Arranging Meetings with Future Customers – Our roles within State government have facilitated the development of relationships with a majority of Agency and Departmental Information Security Officers, Chief Information Officers, Directors, Agency Secretaries, and even the “rising stars” that stand ready to take the reigns as their predecessors approach retirement.
· Navigation Assistance with the Many Procurement Vehicles and Processes – Having been directly involved in Millions of dollars of procurements over the past 20+ years, we are positioned to help navigate the complex landscape of getting products and services on the large list of procurement vehicles available to state entities, as well as local government organizations.
· Knowledge and Tracking of the State’s Budget Change Proposal (BCP) Process – We have successfully authored dozens of BCPs, mentored other departments on hundreds of BCPs, reviewed thousands of IT and cyber-related BCPs from an oversight perspective, and made recommendations to the Department of Finance during their review process. Tracking BCPs as they are approved and funded is also an important piece of the opportunity pipeline that we assist sales teams with.
· Legislative Analysis and Tracking – We have extensive experience in influencing and analyzing proposed bills and legislation for impact on state and local government and on the vendor community. Tracking legislation is another important piece to understanding the needs of State entities and the opportunities for partnership.
· Intimate Knowledge of the State’s Cyber Threat Landscape – As the Deputy State Chief Information Security Officer and Deputy Director for the Office of Information Security, Waypoint’s leader had responsibility for information security program audits and technical independent security assessments on executive branch entities. We have a firm understanding of the State’s overall cyber posture and the challenges that organizations face in prioritizing and remediating shortcomings.
· We Understand the Business Drivers of the 140+ State Entities – Having worked with the over 200 California Agencies and Departments from the inside, we have intimate knowledge of the business drivers and how to uniquely position solutions to add value, reduce costs, and ultimately serve the residents of California.
· We Put Cyber and IT Risk into Business Language – Conducting audits and security assessments, issuing findings, and tracking maturity is only a part of the equation. We understand organizations’ businesses, operating budgets, and cyber postures, and can help translate cyber risk into business language and define it as a component of overall enterprise risk. This helps department directors and business stakeholders prioritize gap remediation and justify spending in the right areas.
